12:25 pm - 9 January
Hello Hogwarts, how are you? Did you miss us? Or did your walls heave a sigh of relief at the (relative) peace and quiet over the Christmas period?

I think the Professors missed us, or missed tormenting us judging by the amount of moans and groans I heard about assigned homework today. Thank Merlin I only had Charms today!

One nice thing I realised... it's less than two months until my birthday! I'll be of age soon! Hooray!

2:10 pm - Christmas!
So far the Christmas hols have been fabulous and I don't think I could have asked for better. The party at the Hawthornes was great fun, nice to see everyone and of course, the food was brilliant!

Christmas Day was a family affair with some of the American members turning up as well. Lots of noise, games and laughing... I actually got a stomach ache from laughing! It was Dad's fault, he modified a Muggle game called 'Scotland Yard', which is all about police officers tracking down a criminal (one player plays the criminal and the others play the police) using various forms of public transport. So it was all three dimensional with sounds and everything, and my brother was playing the criminal while the rest of us blundered about trying to catch him. I suppose it's a 'you had to be there' scenario, but trust me, it was funny.

Graham, I'm all set for the visit and will be at your home at about three o'clock.

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

That mistletoe is extremely EVIL! I've been caught under it five times now! FIVE! And each time the only people in the vicinity were people that I'd rather not be kissing!

At least the first three weren't too bad at locking lips, and number four was a girl who was just as mortified as me, so that was over quickly, but number five? One word: Ewwwwwwww. Especially when he decided to grab my...

I'll be glad to go home tomorrow.

Oh! Presents will be sent out to everyone tomorrow morning!

5:23 pm - Ouchies and no dessert
After getting knocked out by a bouncing bulb, I seem to have missed a few things. Some of which I'm glad I did miss (from what I've seen on the journals). Anyway, I've been more interested in how the hybrid that I've been working on is coming along. Even despite the weather it's thriving really well!

I am a little down about not being able to have dessert until the end of term. Dinner just isn't the same without a sweet treat! On the bright side, perhaps I lose a bit of weight now. Not that I really want to be super skinny, but I don't want to bust out of my clothing either! Although it was a bit unfair of those girls to call me a 'fat cow' when I accidentally bumped into them. Not everyone can be willowy waifs!

Graham, have you got your comics yet? I'd love to know how that adventure ends!

10:55 am - Silence is golden?
It all seems strangely quiet lately, following the excitement (and disappointment) of the Quidditch match. I feel like I should be holding my breath in anticipation or tiptoeing around, it's not a feeling I really like.

To think of something happier... do you realise it's less than a month until Christmas now?! My favourite holiday of the year!

[Private to Gryffindors - particularly the Quidditch team]
So, how are the bumps and bruises? Everyone healed up well? Let me know if there's anything I can do!

Well of course I'm disappointed by the outcome of the match, but it was still very exciting and everyone played brilliantly. Next time will be different, right Gryffindor?!

And I thought the younger years were doing some great roaring too, plus the banners were ace (thank you again for your help, Parry!)!

As I said to James earlier, I have loads of balm for bumps and bruises so just come and see me, okay?

2:33 pm - 16 November
Learning how to apparate is fun, but splinching yourself is not. I managed to do that twice, once leaving a leg AND an arm behind. Really, I don't recommend it in the slightest. The only bonus is that the instructor gave me some really nice chocolate to help me getting over the shock.

Anyway, I did manage to do it successfully once so clearly I'm not yet a hopeless case who should only fly or use floo!

Speaking of flying I can't WAIT for the weekend and the match! I've organised some of the first years into making some big banners to show support. Although I have to admit the lion I drew doesn't look very fierce....

11:54 am - Stupid gossip
Mum once told me that gossip is dreadful because it makes lies seem like truth and twists truths into lies. She's quite right - as usual. Because even if half the things in the latest issue are true, it's all been twisted so that it just seems awful.

After all, anyone with HALF A BRAIN knows that artists do sketch people in the nude. It's ART. It's not squicky porn! Nor is it a come-on if an ARTIST is genuinely wanting to sketch a subject. That's what they DO. Now, I don't believe Patrick Ashford would ask Gabriel Nott to pose nude for him, but there's nothing salacious about him drawing someone!

As for Parry. Lay off! Just because a girl isn't a mad flirt doesn't make her frigid or a lesbian. And even if she WAS a lesbian then that's NOT A BAD THING anyway! Come on people, this is the bloody 21st Century! There are GAY MARRIAGES in LOTS of countries now. INCLUDING Britain. My dad's cousin's daughter is gay and she's HAPPILY married to another woman and they have adopted two kids and are just absolutely adorable as a couple.

Also, clearly the gossips are madly jealous of Derry and Mischa because they're so HAPPY together and therefore are digging at the bottom of the proverbial barrel for crap to spread about them.

And people wonder why I prefer plants to people sometimes. At least the plants don't say stupid nasty things!

3:07 pm - Snow, snow go away...
Bloody snow! Having Herbology indoors is just NOT THE SAME! And I'm worried about the plants outside of the greenhouses. This sort of weather is colder than usual for this time of year and it may kill quite a few promising winter blooms!

And I did all the readings earlier so am really bored now...

Oh, did everyone enjoy the Halloween party? I'm a little disappointed I was a murder victim, even though I doubt I would have been much good as a detective. I'm just glad I did fall into the punch when I 'died'!

8:48 pm - 29 October
My Mum is an absolute star! After I mentioned the Halloween party and how I was undecided about what to wear, she sent me this gorgeous 1950s purple strapless ball gown which looks perfect on someone with my shape! Plus it's not too long so I won't trip on the hem or anything stupid! She even sent matching jewelry and shoes so now I'm all set. WHOO HOO! I can't WAIT for tomorrow night!

Of course it would be perfect if I had a date, but can't have everything.

So! The riddles...

What do people think? I'm a bit stumped, but then I'm dreadful at riddles.

12:07 pm - OW!
WHOSE STUPID IDEA WAS IT TO BRING FLESH-EATING SLUGS INTO THE GREENHOUSES?!!

I spend enough bloody time in the Hospital Wing as it is without having to go because some damned slug took a HUGE chunk out of my arm - which HURTS A LOT I might add!

If I get my hands on the person who did this then I am going to make them very, very sorry, I swear it!

Now Pomfrey is coming at me with blood replenishing potion... bleah. I hate that stuff!

5:30 pm - 13 October 2023
It's definitely been Friday the 13th for me. I should never have gotten out of bed this morning!

First I don't get out, I fall out and bang my nose. Cue a run for the bathroom since blood is just pouring out. Cold water and a quick healing spell fixed it but... ugh, could have done without it.

Then at breakfast I tripped and threw porridge on some poor second year. Porridge, honey AND blackberries I might add. What a mess.

On the way to the greenhouses after Transfiguration, I slipped in the mud.

Going back to get changed and I tripped on the stairs and fell down.

So now I've just been scolded by Pomfrey while she healed my broken wrist.

I hate today

It's Hogsmeade today!

Woke up even earlier than usual and couldn't get back to sleep. I just love these weekends! I wish they came around more often, although I suppose I would rapidly get very, very poor if that was the case.

I didn't make any plans to go with someone, so if anyone wants to join me for the walk in to the village - and maybe a butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks - then let me know!

Oh! And I can't wait for the end of the month - Halloween!!

I hear there's a sign up for Apparition lessons on Tuesday! I'm definitely going to put my name down, since I'll be of age by the time the exam rolls around. I expect I'll manage to splinch myself a couple of times, knowing my luck, but at least there'll be people around to help put me back together (does splinching hurt as much as I've heard?).

Is anyone else signing up?

Team number one ONLY )

Er...What's going on? Why are people acting weird? Is this some part of the challenge that I didn't hear about?

Although... third years aren't part of the challenge, right? So them acting funny would make no sense. Because I just saw one third year who is convinced the floor is melting and she'll get sucked down if she comes off the chair she's standing on.

Team number ONE! I love it! Because no matter how we do, we're still team ONE!

These challenge are going to be a lot of fun, I can't wait to find out what we have to do first.

Only I hope there's nothing involving lots of coordination, or flying, or if there is then we can nominate team members to do the tasks or whatever, because I'm hopeless at flying and it would just kill me to let people down.

Thanks to that horrible reek due to the disgusting spillage, I spent most of my free time in the greenhouses today. It's funny, I would have expected to have a higher tolerance for bad smells since anyone who gardens encounters some fairly niffy ones over time, but I was just about gagging today!

It's a good thing mum sent my 'care package' yesterday so I have plenty of slices, cookies and other yummy things to snack on so I don't need to venture near the Great Hall!

Anyway... it was the first Herbology class of the year today and that was fabulous. I can't wait to get started on all the various projects! Now summer is over, there'll be a lot of Autumn plants growing, like the crocus, meadow saffron and hyacinths. I've actually put a pot of hyacinths on the window sill in my dorm room, just to make it more cheery.

Ugh! What was with the awful testing yesterday? I really wasn't expecting that the first day back! I'm sure I did really poorly since I barely glanced at my reading over the hols.

I'm also not thrilled with having to wait until Thursday for my first Herbology class! At least Monday doesn't have any classes so I can, er, catch up on that reading I guess I should have done.

Sweet, sweet summer! How do I love thee, let me count the ways...

1) No homework

2) Sunshine! (well, mostly - we DO live in Britain after all)

3) No homework

4) I have some beautiful Hibiscus flowering in my greenhouse

5) No homework!

6) We went to Italy for two weeks and I'm in love with Sorrento and Capri

7) No homework!!

8) I've only fallen down the stairs once this time

9) Did I mention no homework?

Sadly this state of affairs never lasts for as long as I'd like. Tomorrow I'll be boarding the Hogwarts Express and the dreadful cycle of homework will begin again! I've heard that it gets tougher in sixth year too - although I thought that O.W.Ls were horrible enough! At least I didn't do TOO badly (and I got an O for Herbology - hooray!).

Of course, I'm really not that reluctant to return to school. It'll be great to catch up with everyone and share the news. I know, I know, it's easy to do that via journals, but sometimes it's nicer to talk face to face!
